Here are a pair of stubs that are similar, yet different enough to up your options when it comes to running larger 100mm (Type 2/Type 4) CV joints.

  
The Stub on the left is out of a Porsche 924, but is physically the same as what you would find from a 944, as well as the VW 181 Thing. 

The Stub on the right is factory issued Vw bug Type 1. 

The bearing races are identical, as well as the splines.
These 924/944/181 WILL interchange happily into the stock Type 1 trailing arm bearing carrier.
